Cover and spread illustration.
Claire Keeton's piece investigated the growing popularity of death cafes in Cape Town, where people gather to openly discuss this often taboo subject over coffee.
For the center spread I re-imagined a bar counter as a burial site, using the length of the double page spread for effect.
The cover illustration is more abstract in approach, borrowing from Dali's surrealistic imagery. The frame is filled with symbols and creatures associated with death and decay. The fly and millipede are the creature transport to mortality.
